Job summary

Actalent in Livonia, MI is seeking a Formulation Chemist to lead formulation development and optimization for new and existing products. You will collaborate across R&D, manufacturing, procurement, and technical service to ensure performance, quality, and manufacturability.

The role focuses on formulating new products, evaluating materials, and supporting pilot runs to accelerate timelines while maintaining robust documentation and compliance. This position is fully onsite in Livonia, MI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related field.
• 2–7 years of experience in formulation, product development, or applied chemistry.
• Hands-on experience with formulation changes and optimization, material evaluation and substitution, and application testing.

Responsibilities

• Create new formulations and modify existing formulations to improve performance or reduce costs.
• Evaluate alternative suppliers and test new raw materials for compatibility.
• Develop derivatives based on customer needs or market gaps.
• Conduct performance testing, stability studies, and application evaluations.
