Job summary

Clariant is seeking a Formulation Chemist – Cosmetics & Skin Care in New Providence, NJ. The role focuses on hands-on development of cosmetic formulations, including skin care products, with emphasis on prototypes, testing, stability, and documentation.

You will work with the Regional Formulation Manager and technical teams to advance projects across skin care, hair care, sun care, and color cosmetics. Onsite, full-time position with competitive salary, PTO, and annual bonus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on laboratory experience developing cosmetic formulations, including skin care products.

Responsibilities

• Support development and customization of cosmetic formulations across skin care, hair care, sun care, and color cosmetics.
• Prepare laboratory batches and prototypes for formulation development and customer projects.
• Evaluate raw materials, ingredient functionality and processing parameters.
• Conduct laboratory investigations and product optimization activities with proper documentation.
• Initiate and maintain stability studies per procedures including sample prep and data collection.
• Maintain accurate formulation records, notebooks, and project documentation in designated systems.
• Support prototypes, technical materials, and demonstrations for internal/external activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet project objectives and development timelines.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, inventory, and consumables for an organized workspace.

Clariant is currently seeking a Formulation Chemist – Cosmetics & Skin Care to join Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, part of Clariant’s Care Chemicals Business Unit, in New Providence, New Jersey. This position requires hands‑on laboratory experience developing cosmetic formulations, including skin care products. You will apply your formulation expertise to the development, customization, and evaluation of products across skin care, hair care, sun care, and color cosmetics applications. Responsibilities include preparing prototypes, conducting laboratory testing and stability evaluations, maintaining formulation records, and supporting technical investigations. Working closely with the Regional Formulation Manager and broader technical team, you will contribute to ingredient promotion initiatives, customer projects, and ongoing formulation development.

This is a full‑time, onsite laboratory position based in New Providence, NJ. Clariant offers a competitive salary, PTO, and an annual bonus.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and customization of cosmetic formulations for skin care, hair care, sun care, and color cosmetic applications under the direction of the Regional Formulation Manager.
• Prepare laboratory batches and prototypes to support formulation development, ingredient evaluations, customer projects, and promotional initiatives.
• Assist with the evaluation of raw materials, ingredient functionality, processing parameters, and product performance characteristics.
• Conduct laboratory investigations, formulation troubleshooting, and product optimization activities while documenting observations and results.
• Initiate, monitor, and maintain stability studies in accordance with established procedures, including sample preparation, tracking, and data collection.
• Maintain accurate formulation records, laboratory notebooks, stability data, and project documentation within designated systems and databases.
• Support the preparation of prototypes, technical materials, and laboratory demonstrations for internal and external technical activities.
• Collaborate with formulation scientists, technical teams, and other internal stakeholders to support project objectives and development activities.
