Clariant is seeking a Formulation Chemist for Cosmetics & Skin Care to join Lucas Meyer Cosmetics in New Providence, New Jersey. This role emphasizes hands-on laboratory formulation, development of skin care products, and collaboration with regional teams.

The position is full-time, onsite, with opportunities to advance formulation development across skin, sun care, hair care, and color cosmetics, plus a competitive salary, PTO, and annual bonus.

Qualifications

Responsabilités

Clariant is currently seeking a Formulation Chemist - Cosmetics & Skin Care to join Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, part of Clariant's Care Chemicals Business Unit, in New Providence, New Jersey. This position requires hands-on laboratory experience developing cosmetic formulations, including skin care products. You will apply your formulation expertise to the development, customization, and evaluation of products across skin care, hair care, sun care, and color cosmetics applications. Responsibilities include preparing prototypes, conducting laboratory testing and stability evaluations, maintaining formulation records, and supporting technical investigations. Working closely with the Regional Formulation Manager and broader technical team, you will contribute to ingredient promotion initiatives, customer projects, and ongoing formulation development.

This is a full-time, onsite laboratory position based in New Providence, NJ. Clariant offers a competitive salary, PTO, and an annual bonus.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and customization of cosmetic formulations for skin care, hair care, sun care, and color cosmetic applications under the direction of the Regional Formulation Manager.
• Prepare laboratory batches and prototypes to support formulation development, ingredient evaluations, customer projects, and promotional initiatives.
• Assist with the evaluation of raw materials, ingredient functionality, processing parameters, and product performance characteristics.
• Conduct laboratory investigations, formulation troubleshooting, and product optimization activities while documenting observations and results.
• Initiate, monitor, and maintain stability studies in accordance with established procedures, including sample preparation, tracking, and data collection.
• Maintain accurate formulation records, laboratory notebooks, stability data, and project documentation within designated systems and databases.
• Support the preparation of prototypes, technical materials, and laboratory demonstrations for internal and external technical activities.
• Collaborate with formulation scientists, technical teams, and other internal stakeholders to support project objectives and development activities.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, inventory, raw materials, packaging components, and consumables to ensure an organized and efficient laboratory environment.
• Follow all laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• 3-7 years of hands-on experience in a cosmetic or personal care formulation laboratory, including direct experience developing skin care formulations. Additional experience in sun care or color cosmetics is a plus.
• Working knowledge of cosmetic formulation principles, including emulsions, gels, gel-creams, raw material functionality, stability testing, and product evaluation.
• Strong laboratory, documentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to support multiple formulation projects and priorities simultaneously.
