Job summary

Libbey is hiring a Forming Operator Apprentice in Toledo, OH. The program trains you on forming machine operations and the glass making process, with hands-on assessments and on-machine testing to validate skills.

You will perform tasks safely, apply Lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement, and commit to a four-year program. The 12-hour swing shifts run 6am–6pm and 6pm–6am, requiring a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Pass computerized assessments in math, mechanical, reading, and problem-solving.
• Demonstrate ability to use mechanical tools around equipment.
• Pass written, oral, and on-machine assessments during training.
• Availability to work any shift, days and evenings/overnights.
• Four-year department commitment.

Job description

Hourly Rate: $22.33

Shift: 12-hour swing, 6am-6pm / 6pm-6am

Libbey's Forming Operator Apprentice will:

• Perform all operational tasks safely in the production environment.
• Develop a thorough understanding of forming machine operations and glass making process validated by a series of written, oral interview, and on-machine testing assessments.
• Discipline to perform tasks as defined by Libbey standards to reduce variation in all processes.
• Develop and apply a disciplined approach to problem solving to drive continual improvement within all processes.
• Develop an understanding and apply LEAN manufacturing methodology to drive continuous improvement in glass quality, cost reduction, and on time delivery to our customers.
• Display behaviors, sound judgement, and professionalism consistent with Libbey’s Values and contribute to a culture bases on teamwork and Continuous Improvement.

REQUIREMENTS

• Successfully pass computerized assessments consisting of math, mechanical, reading, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to demonstrate ability to use mechanical tools in/around stationery and moving equipment.
• Successfully pass a series of written, oral, and on-machine assessments during training program.
• Availability to work any shift, days and evenings/overnights
• Four (4) year department commitment
• High School Diploma or GED required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment (noise, high temperature, dust, heights).
• Willingness to work in a glass production area safely with associated personal protection equipment (PPE).
• Must pass pre-employment tests including a drug screening, background check , physical, Functional Capacity Exam and respirator test.
