Job summary

Midwest Food Services in Chicago is seeking a Warehouse Forklift Operator to join our distribution team. The role emphasizes accurate loading, safety-first operations, and potential rotation into the freezer area, with a base hourly rate of $19 and a schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

You will handle loading/unloading, staging and inventory accuracy, and operate RF scanners or a warehouse management system. A strong safety record and teamwork are essential; freezer experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of warehouse experience
• At least 1 years of inventory experience
• At least 1 year of forklift experience
• Freezer or cold-storage experience preferred, and may be required to rotate into the freezer area
• A strong safety record and a commitment to safe work practices
• Ability to read pick tickets, labels and basic paperwork, and to use RF scanners or a warehouse management system
• Good attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks safely and verify orders against tickets
• Pull, stage and verify orders; report shortages or damages
• Inspect loads, store products and maintain aisle access and safety
• Support inventory accuracy through scanning and cycle counts
• Operate forklift and other equipment following training and OSHA rules
• Rotate to freezer area as needed and follow cold-storage protocols
• Follow OSHA/SDS safety requirements and maintain a clean workspace
