Job description

Who We Are

Midwest Food Services is a leader in the Asian food service industry, bringing a diverse range of ethnic cuisines, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai, to the table. Our corporate headquarters in Chicago is where we house our fully integrated food processing, manufacturing, logistics, and worldwide supply chain services all under one roof. With distribution centers spanning the US, over 2 million square feet of warehousing space, and a fleet of more than 1,000 trucks, we're the go-to when it comes to reliable delivery services.

At Conexus Food Solutions we believe that teamwork and collaboration are the keys to success. We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of integrity and honesty in everything we do and building strong relationships with our clients. We're looking for individuals who share our values and are committed to excellence. Join our team and contribute to our culture of collaboration and integrity while growing your own skills and expertise. Together, we'll deliver high-quality products and exceptional service to our clients and achieve great things.

What You’ll Do

As a Warehouse Forklift Operator, you will select product accurately and efficiently and prepare shipments for our customers. Safety comes first in this role. You’ll operate a forklift and other powered equipment in a busy warehouse, so you need to know how to move product without putting yourself, your coworkers, or our inventory at risk. When business needs call for it, you may be asked to rotate into our freezer area.

Loading, Unloading and Order Selection

  • Load and unload trucks safely. Before entering a trailer, confirm it is chocked, the dock lock is engaged and the dock plate is secure.

  • Pull, stage and verify orders against pick tickets so the right product and quantity ship, and report any shortages, overages or damage.

  • Inspect loads before moving them, store product in its proper location, and never block aisles, exits or fire equipment.

  • Support inventory accuracy through scanning, labeling and cycle counts.

Safe Forklift Operation

  • Operate equipment only after completing company training and OSHA certification (29 CFR 1910.178).

  • Inspect your equipment before every shift, and tag out and report any defects.

  • Drive safely: control your speed, keep loads low, sound the horn at corners and doorways, and back up when a load blocks your view.

  • Always watch for pedestrians, never exceed the truck’s rated capacity, and never carry riders.

  • Park with forks lowered, brake set and power off, and follow proper battery and propane procedures.

Freezer Rotation (As Needed)

  • Rotate into the freezer (as cold as -30°F) when needed, wearing the required cold-weather PPE and taking scheduled warm-up breaks.

  • Use extra caution on icy floors and watch for signs of cold stress.

General Safety and Housekeeping

  • Follow OSHA, SDS and company safety requirements, and wear the required PPE at all times.

  • Keep the warehouse clean and organized.

  • Report accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions right away.

  • Maintain good attendance and take part in safety training,

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of warehouse experience

  • At least 1 years of inventory experience

  • At least 1 year of forklift experience

  • Freezer or cold-storage experience preferred, and may be required to rotate into the freezer area

  • A strong safety record and a commitment to safe work practices

  • Ability to read pick tickets, labels and basic paperwork, and to use RF scanners or a warehouse management system

  • Good attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift, carry and move up to 50–60 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift

  • Able to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach and climb on and off equipment for long periods

  • Able to work in freezer conditions as cold as -30°F when rotated there

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with noise and moving equipment
