Responsibilities:

Our Material Handling Group is currently looking for a full-time Forklift Shop Technician for our Sterling Heights, MI branch. This position is first shift, M-F, hourly (no flat rate!). The primary responsibilities include:

• Performing preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing all forms of customer equipment
• Completing each repair job in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
• Providing exceptional customer service
• Managing workloads independently
• Proper completion and submission of all required paperwork
• Managing company vehicle and on-board parts inventory
• Incorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Performing other duties as assigned
• Maintaining consistent, reliable attendance and being ready for work at the designated start time

We encourage our Technicians to participate in our in-house paid training program to acquire additional skills in diagnosis and troubleshooting, advancing their careers. Company uniforms are provided!

Qualifications:

• Two years of previous forklift repair experience is highly desired, including experience in the Military, Guard, or Reserve with MOS or NEC codes such as 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M, or CM
• Previous field experience is highly preferable
• Strong working knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Own tools
• Clean driving record and valid driver's license
• Familiarity with programs like HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software, and Yale/Hyster contact management system
• Intermediate language skills for reading, interpreting, and communicating technical information
• Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations
• Intermediate reasoning ability to follow instructions and solve problems

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Regular standing, walking, hand use; occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling
• No special vision requirements
• Lifting up to 10 pounds regularly, 11-25 pounds frequently, over 26 pounds occasionally
• Work near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, outdoor weather, and other environmental conditions
