Job description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
  3. Wash and sanitize hands before beginning work.
  4. Follow all of the required plant GMP rules.
  5. Inspect forklift and fill out a daily inspection form every day.
  6. If there is a mechanical problem contact supervisor immediately.
  7. First day of week, come in early to set up process department. Boxes, pads, dividers, slip sheets, barrels, ingredients, pallets, and anything else needed.
  8. Take care of cook room. Make sure they have barrels and ingredients at all times. Also, make sure they have an empty cardboard bin.
  9. Take care of the 3 main lines. Prepare and bring boxes, pads, dividers, slip sheets, and pallets when needed. Take full pallets down to the cooler and wrap them.
  10. Take care of loaf line. Take full pallets to loaf cooler. Keep pallets stocked and keep tops/bottoms stocker.
  11. Bring any pallets on hold to process from the cooler.
  12. Sending bins, barrels, or boxes up or down the elevator as needed.
  13. Change battery on lift when it gets too low. Also, must check water level of battery from time to time.
  14. Various other things that anyone may need.
  15. Ensure proper lot numbers are being used of ingredients.
  16. Verify weights of rework barrels with rework log before skids of rework are hauled out to be sent upstairs.
  17. Use slip sheets between all pallets containing barrels, bags, or any other product not in a box.
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
  1. If incorrect lot number is being used, notify supervisor and replace it with correct one.
SAFETY
  1. Must wear a bump cap and seatbelt at all times when on a lift.
  2. Honk horn at any intersection, busy areas or corner/doorway.
  3. Drive slower through busy areas.
  4. Follow safety rules when driving forklift.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
