Job description

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Description AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled Cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
• Wash and sanitize hands before beginning work.
• Follow all required plant GMP rules.
• Inspect forklift and fill out a daily inspection form every day.
• Contact supervisor immediately if a mechanical problem is observed.
• Come in early first day of the week to set up the process department (boxes, pads, dividers, slip sheets, barrels, ingredients, pallets, and any other needed items).
• Take care of the cook room, ensuring barrels and ingredients are available at all times and that an empty cardboard bin is present.
• Maintain the three main lines and loaf line by preparing and bringing boxes, pads, dividers, slip sheets, and pallets when needed.
• Move full pallets down to the cooler, wrap them, and keep them stocked. Transfer pallets to the loaf cooler as required.
• Transfer any pallets on hold to process from the cooler; send bins, barrels, or boxes up or down the elevator as needed.
• Change battery on lift when it gets low and check water level of battery periodically.
• Ensure proper lot numbers are being used for ingredients.
• Verify weights of rework barrels with rework log before hauling rework skids up.
• Use slip sheets between all pallets containing barrels, bags, or any other product not in a box.
• Notify supervisor and replace incorrect lot numbers promptly.
• Wear a bump cap and seatbelt at all times when on a lift. Honk horn at any intersection, busy area or corner/doorway. Drive slower through busy areas and follow safety rules when operating a forklift.
