Job summary

Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) operates six Midwest manufacturing plants and produces American‑type cheese and processed cheese for foodservice, retail and ingredients.

This role supports production by assembling carts, cleaning equipment, and ensuring sanitation and safety standards. The ideal candidate holds a valid forklift license, a High School diploma or GED, and demonstrates GMP adherence while assisting with maintenance and shift communication.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid forklift operator license.
  • Experience with GMP policies and safety procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble carts and place cheesecloth and liners into boxes.
  • Rinse carts and pans; clean and sanitize; re-clean if needed.
  • Load/unload carts in vacuum chamber and vacuum as required.
  • Inspect, weigh and tag carts; maintain housekeeping.
  • Document recordkeeping and communicate production deficiencies.
  • Report information during shift change overs; follow GMP policies.
  • Assist maintenance with machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Identify continuous process improvement opportunities.

Job description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assemble carts and place cheesecloth and liners into boxes.
  • Thoroughly rinse carts and pans in order to remove any soil/debris prior being placed in the bottom washer.
  • Clean and sanitize and all carts and pans. Inspect and re-clean and sanitize if any soil or debris is located.
  • Load and unload carts in vacuum chamber and vacuum for allotted time.
  • Inspect, weigh, and tag carts.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleanup of equipment, supplies in bagging and work areas throughout the plant.
  • Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping.
  • Assists with training new employees.
  • Provides assistance to the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Document and communicate production deficiencies to management.
  • Report and communicate critical information during shift change overs.
  • Continuously look for process improvement opportunities and effectively communicate to others.
  • Adhere to all Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid forklift operator license.
