Job summary

Quick Plug is seeking a Forklift & PIT Safety Trainer in Conover, NC to develop competent, safety-focused forklift operators through formal instruction, hands-on training, and ongoing coaching.

This hands-on role requires presence in production, warehouse, and loading areas, with responsibilities spanning training, evaluation, certification, and evangelizing safety standards across sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Five or more years of hands-on powered industrial truck operating experience across multiple truck types preferred
• Two or more years of experience training, evaluating, or formally coaching adults in a manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or similar industrial environment preferred
• Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178 powered industrial truck requirements required
• Completion of a recognized forklift train-the-trainer program preferred
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training preferred
• Experience with learning management systems, spreadsheets, email, or other training/recordkeeping systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver initial powered industrial truck operator training per 29 CFR 1910.178(l)
• Train and evaluate employees on sit-down counterbalance and stand-up rider trucks
• Teach material handling, loading/unloading, and shipment prep
• Instruct on load handling, stacking, labeling, packing, and securing
• Record material movements and certification data in tracking systems
• Support production flow with timely material delivery and communication of issues
• Verify pre-shift inspections and report defects or unsafe conditions
• Provide instruction on truck controls, capacity, and operating hazards
• Evaluate operators and authorize certification after safe performance
• Conduct operator evaluations at least every three years
• Provide refresher training for unsafe operation or incidents
• Perform floor observations and coach on safety practices
• Collaborate with Supervisors and EHS on incident investigations
• Develop and maintain training curriculum and checklists
• Mentor in-house trainers/evaluators
• Maintain training and certification records
• Track evaluation due dates and schedule re-evaluations
• Deliver EHS training and new-hire safety onboarding
• Adapt delivery to experience, literacy, and shift schedules
• Maintain a safe training environment and follow OSHA requirements
• Complete required paperwork and training reports
• Communicate progress and safety concerns to EHS Manager
