Job summary

Ferche Millwork is seeking a forklift operator to move materials and finished goods safely from receiving to staging, with duties including loading, unloading and distribution within the warehouse. The role involves indoor/outdoor operation, adherence to safety rules, and equipment maintenance.

Compliance with Ferche's forklift training is required. Responsibilities include inspecting freight, organizing stock by species and dimensions, and conserving quality during transport.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months forklift operating experience or training.
• Must complete Ferche's forklift training and operator evaluation before operating equipment independently.
• Demonstrated history of safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive the forklift safely and efficiently, following all work rules and safe operating procedures.
• Complete a pre-shift inspection of the forklift and report defects or safety concerns.
• Inspect incoming freight for quantity, correct material, and condition; report inaccuracies or damage.
• Maintain quality and minimize damage to finished goods and raw materials during transport and loading/unloading.
• Transport waste for disposal and to the rework process.
• Sort, stack, band, and organize lumber and finished goods; keep walkways clear.
• Wear required PPE and follow safety rules; read and interpret schedules and reports.
• Assist other forklift drivers when time permits and perform other duties as assigned.
