Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our distribution center. You will operate forklift, load/unload materials from trailers or rail cars, store and retrieve material, and prepare shipping paperwork.

Daily inspections and maintaining a clean work area are part of the role. The role requires one year of forklift/warehouse experience, ability to lift up to 75 lbs, and a safety-focused approach.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Proficient and safe forklift operation.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.
