Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to support loading, unloading, staging, and document cargo in a fast-paced dock or warehouse environment.

This role requires a valid forklift certification (or the ability to obtain one) and at least 3 years of dock/warehouse experience. You will operate sit‑down/stand‑up forklifts and other MHE, maintain accurate freight records, and assist drivers as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain before operating equipment).
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to verify freight counts, weights, and labels with basic arithmetic.
• Willingness to learn and use basic computer systems and freight-tracking devices.
• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and other MHE, following safety procedures.
• Move, stage, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading while following safety rules.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment concerns promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and tools/equipment.
• Learn equipment operation and safety procedures; support dock productivity.
• Work scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
