Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard in Hickory, NC seeks an Experienced Forklift Operator to load/unload materials and move them to storage areas, machines and docks. Third shift, full-time, high school diploma or equivalent required.

You will operate a forklift, inspect equipment, locate stock, and ensure on-time delivery to machines while maintaining safety and quality standards. Paperwork accuracy and adherence to schedules are essential.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing experience in corrugated industry preferred.
• Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
• Knowledge of material-handling equipment is an asset.
• Prior work experience as a forklift operator preferred.
• Knowledge of product quality specifications.
• Knowledge of equipment design and capabilities for efficient operation.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Forklift certification per OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift safely and be qualified to operate it.
• Complete forklift inspection form and turn in maintenance requests.

SUMMARY: Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operation and care of forklift in a safe manner. Must be qualified to properly operate the forklift.
• Complete and document a forklift inspection form before start of shift and when operating a new forklift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Locate stock before the start of the run.
• Deliver appropriate stock to appropriate machines safely and on time
• Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Adheres to daily production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to - production data, machine operational status, safety data, quality data.
• Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.
