Job summary

Central Garden & Pet Company’s D&D Commodities unit in Stephen, MN is seeking a Forklift Operator for first shift. This full-time role involves loading, unloading, and moving materials, using SAP and RF devices, and ensuring FIFO compliance to support production lines and warehouse storage.

The position requires forklift certification (on-site), ability to operate a sit-down forklift for most of the day, and a readiness for overtime or weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Forklift certification required or obtainable onsite.
• Able to operate sit-down forklift for 75% of the workday.
• Previous forklift experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Regular attendance and safety-minded.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, and transport materials within the facility.
• Ensure proper placement of raw materials and finished products to support production lines and warehouse storage.
• Use SAP and radio frequency equipment to track inventory, print documents, and manage stock levels.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and inspect for damage to vehicles, identify necessary maintenance and repairs.
• Optimize load arrangements for operational efficiency and secure loads for transport.
• Rotate stock to ensure FIFO practices and prepare pallets for shipping by shrink-wrapping.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment, reporting any safety hazards or faulty equipment.
• Collaborate with team members, managers, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and complete required paperwork for production office personnel.
