Job summary

Reliance, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a warehouse operator to load/unload inventory using heavy-capacity fork trucks, following work orders and supervisor directions.

The role requires standing/walking, operating forklift, logging inventory movements, and ensuring accuracy and safety. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Strong communication and prior forklift/material handling experience, especially with steel, are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Heavy capacity forklift experience preferred; material handling and working with steel is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to lift, move, and position steel and heavy material.
• Load and unload trailers and railroad cars.
• Drive and operate forklift in various conditions.
• Log inventory location changes into the inventory system and/or by paperwork.
• Log and tag inventory received according to procedures.
• Assemble customer orders per work orders.
• Record material information on work orders and forms.
• Maintain accuracy within strict standards.
• Coordinate with warehouse teams to complete tasks.
• Maintain safety compliance and report hazards.
• Be a proactive and reliable team member with good attendance.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required.
• Perform other warehouse tasks as needed.
• Special projects as specified by management.

Job Function

• Responsible for operating fork truck to lift, move, position, reposition steel and heavy material to stock areas.
• Load and unload trailers and railroad cars.
• Able to drive and operate the fork truck in a variety of conditions and spaces.
• Log and report inventory location changes according to specified procedure into inventory computer system and/or by paperwork.
• Log and tag inventory received according to specified procedure
• Assemble customer orders according to work orders
• Record pertinent material information to work orders, material, or other forms as specified by management
• Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
• Works and coordinates with multiple areas of warehouse, and coworkers to complete tasks.
• Maintain compliance with all safety requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Safety sensitive for his/her owns safety and/or of others safety.
• Demonstrated initiative to proactively seek out work and complete tasks
