Forklift Operator – 2nd Shift – Salina, KS

Great Plains Mfg is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Forklift Operator to join our Weld team at the Salina campus in Salina, KS.

This position works Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with overtime on Fridays as needed.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

1. Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, forklift, hoist or crane.
2. Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
3. Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
4. Secure lifting attachments to materials and convey load to destination or signal crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
5. Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet or computer while maintaining accurate inventory quantities.
6. Attach identifying tags or labels to materials; mark information on cases, bales, or other containers.
7. Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together.
8. Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist; clean work area.
9. Understanding and use of AS400 units to find location of parts, routing, product structure and parts availability.
10. Assist in receiving of parts from vendor and route truck.
11. Assist with cycle counts as needed.
12. Daily inspection and safe operation of forklift.
13. Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
14. Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
15. Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4. Ability to excel in fast-paced, high-pressure situations and be results-oriented
5. Understanding of lean concepts and willing to implement change
6. Ability to follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed PPE as required
