Job summary

Leggett & Platt is seeking a forklift/operator loader in Morris, IL to follow loading diagrams, load trailers, and coordinate with the shipping team. You will unload/store raw materials, resolve count discrepancies, and alert on unsafe conditions while maintaining a clean, organized workspace.

The role emphasizes ISO9001 adherence and continuous improvement, with daily forklift usage and strict safety procedures in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Follow loading diagram and instructions from Shipping Lead.
• Identify products, roll amounts and loading order for truck loading.
• Resolve count discrepancies with Shipping Lead.
• Report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Follow safe loading/unloading procedures with forklift.
• Complete daily forklift checklist and report issues.

Responsibilities

• Unload and store raw materials and supplies in designated area.
• Alert Shipping Lead of damaged or incorrect shipments.
• Maintain clean work area and free of hazards.
• Identify and record problems related to product, process and quality system.
• Control nonconforming product until corrected.

Job description

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Able to follow loading diagram and instructions from Shipping Lead to accurately identify products, roll amounts, and loading order to complete the loading of a truck.
• Work well with fellow shippers to ensure efficient loading of trailers.
• Resolves count discrepancies with Shipping Lead.
• Alert supervisor of potentially unsafe work conditions.
• Performs other duties as instructed by Shipping Lead.
• Unload and properly store raw materials and supplies in their designated area.
• Alert Shipping Lead of any damaged or under/over shipment of raw materials or supplies.
• Follow safe loading and unloading procedures while operating a forklift.
• Fill out daily forklift checklist and report any forklift performance issues.
• Report poor inbound/outbound trailer conditions to Shipping Lead.
• Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards.
• Commitment to ISO9001 and Continuous Improvement
• Identify and/or record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system
• Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected

Hourly pay ranges from $21.40 to $21.72 based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is eligible for an annual performance increase, subject to or based on individual performance, business results, budgetary constraints, and other factors.
