Job description

Location: Milford, IA, United States
Business Unit: Safco Products
Remote Type: No Remote

As a Forklift Operator with Safco Products, you will play a key role in safely moving goods and materials in a high-traffic industrial environment. Your responsibilities include operating mobile equipment to move products and materials, scanning inventory, operating shrink wrap machines, fulfilling shipments, and receiving deliveries.

This full-time position reports directly to a Production Supervisor at our Milford, IA manufacturing facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, lift trucks, hoists, or other material handling equipment safely in a busy industrial setting.
  • Use electronic scanning systems to track inventory and product locations accurately.
  • Perform pre-operation inspections and report any equipment issues.
  • Pick orders, prepare shipments, consolidate pallets, and operate shrink wrap machines as needed.
  • Receive materials from suppliers and other Safco locations.
  • Move products and materials throughout the facility, including loading and unloading trailers.
  • Follow safety regulations and company guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Stand-up and sit-down forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with computer skills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read, follow, and complete detailed work instructions.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
  • Over 1 year of experience operating mobile equipment or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of distribution documentation such as pick lists, packing slips, and bills of lading.
  • Understanding of warehouse organization, workflow, and basic inventory control.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting pay rate is $19.50 per hour plus shift differential. Compensation may vary based on education, certifications, skills, experience, or location. Some positions may include bonuses.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in hot, humid, or cold environments.
  • Work in crowded spaces for extended periods.
  • Sit/stand for over 6 hours, walk for over 3 hours, reach/grasp for over 4 hours per shift.
