Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a Forklift Operator for our Maxton, NC facility to support production, shipping, and receiving by safely transporting materials throughout the plant. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and forklift experience, with certification obtainable if not already.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth. The 3rd shift runs 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with some overtime and occasional weekend work.

Schedule and Pay

• $26.55 per hour
• 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Monday through Friday
• Some overtime and occasional weekend work required

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll play a key part in keeping production moving and customer orders on schedule. Responsibilities include:

• Operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
• Loading finished sheet metal products onto outbound trucks
• Unloading incoming coils, raw materials, and deliveries
• Supplying production lines with materials needed to maintain operations
• Preparing finished goods for transfer and shipment
• Assisting with inventory activities and order preparation

You'll also help maintain a clean and organized work area, perform equipment inspections, and follow all safety and quality procedures.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• A high school diploma or GED
• 6 months to 2 years of forklift experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment
• The ability to demonstrate safe forklift operation and obtain certification if not already certified
• A strong commitment to safety and teamwork
• Previous manufacturing experience is preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This is an active position in a manufacturing environment. Team members frequently stand and walk throughout the shift while moving materials and supporting production operations.

The Role Requires The Ability To

• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly
• Bend, squat, kneel, crawl, and reach as needed
• Occasionally climb stairs or ladders
• Work around moving machinery, forklifts, vibration, and elevated noise levels

Employees may also be exposed to heat, cold, humidity, dust, fumes, and other manufacturing conditions. Safety is a top priority, and all employees are expected to maintain a clean work environment and follow established safety standards.
