Job summary

Silgan Containers is hiring a Forklift Driver for our Fort Madison, IA plant. The role features a 12-hour continuous schedule with overtime opportunities and a starting wage of $21.84 per hour plus a $1.00 shift differential.

Responsibilities include operating forklifts safely, receiving and shipping materials, stocking lines, and maintaining equipment. A high school diploma or GED is required, plus forklift experience and a safety‑minded, team‑oriented mindset.

• Keep production line supplied with necessary raw material and supplies.
• Stack finished goods in the warehouse at various heights.
• Complete proper documentation and prepare necessary reports on incoming shipments.
• Maintain forklifts in a clean, orderly fashion and perform daily inspections.
• Collaborate with management to improve safety, quality, cost, and productivity.

Starting wage $21.84 per hour

What We Offer You

• Starting pay is $21.84 per hour + $1.00 per hour shift differential
• Overtime opportunities available
• Only work 84 hours every two weeks but earn 76 hours of straight pay and 8 hours of guaranteed overtime every two weeks
• On average 15 scheduled days per month
• Every other weekend is a 3-day weekend
• 12-hour continuous schedule

What you’ll do:

• Operate forklift at a safe speed and within company guidelines

• Work with management to improve work area, safety, quality, cost, and productivity

Job Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalency
• Ability to demonstrate forklift driving experience and pass a certification test
• The ability to follow instructions and be a team player
• A safety-oriented mindset
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
