Job summary

BD is seeking a Forklift Operator for our distribution center to safely move products and manage inventory with RF scanners and WMS. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and the ability to operate multiple material handling tools.

Responsibilities include unload, put away, pallet picking, loading, replenishment, and cross-training for backup support. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with at least 1 year of relevant experience and experience with high reach or counterbalance

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required in lieu of High School Diploma or GED.
  • Intermediate experience with either a high reach or counterbalance required.
  • Experience with Manhattan WMS preferred.

  • Transport palletized product within the distribution center (unload, put away double deep, bulk and full pallet pick, load, replenishment).
  • Operate material handling equipment, including high reach, counterbalance, electric pallet jack, and dock stocker.
  • Use RF Scanner and WMS to ensure inventory accuracy and track products throughout the site.
  • Ensure product integrity while performing all tasks.
  • Follow site safety procedures, including required PPE (safety vest, safety shoes).
  • Cross train and become knowledgeable in other areas. Provide backup support when required.

Job Summary

  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification within 2 days of employment.

  • Ability to operate MHE and use an RF scanner.
  • Basic analytical, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • General distribution knowledge.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong initiative and drive for results.

While performing this job, the associate is regularly exposed to episodes of walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, hearing, twisting, lifting, frequent use of hand to finger, handle, feel, pick or type which can include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers. The associate may occasionally be required to climb. The job may require lifting over 50lbs in some areas but not all. Associate must have normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and must have hearing sufficient to safely operate MHE [Material Handling Equipment] in a manufacturing/distribution environment.

Work Environment

The noise level is moderate to loud. There will almost always be exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment, exposure to precarious situations. Occasionally the position will have exposure to fumes/airborne particles. This role may require a mandatory medical evaluation in compliance with BD’s obligations under applicable occupational health and safety laws.
