Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator at our Bradley, IL facility. You will ensure proper packaging, handling and shipment of a quality product aligned with safety and production schedules.

This role requires 12-hour shifts, union membership after 30 days, and prior sit-down forklift experience in a manufacturing setting. We offer competitive pay, health insurance and a pension plan.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 3+ years of sit-down forklift experience required.
• Manufacturing environment experience preferred.
• Able to work 12-hour shifts, days or nights, including weekends.
• Union membership after 30 days.
• OSHA/Forklift Trainer certification and AS400 knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down propane forklift to load trailers.
• Transport inventory and stage orders for shipment.
• Perform safety checks and adhere to SOPs.
• Assist quality inspections and keep accurate records.
• Coordinate with production and management on schedules.

Job Description:

Position Overview:

This is a dual position: The forklift operator ensures the packaging, handling, and shipment of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Location: Bradley, IL

Salary: $25.51- $ 27.01 per hour –

Forklift Operator duties and responsibilities:

• Ensures all equipment, guards, and safety devices are in place at all times, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules.
• Operates sit-down propane forklift to transport inventory and load tractor trailers for shipment.
• Transports inventory in warehouse to correct locations and stages orders for shipment.
• Understands daily production schedule and corresponds with management, leads, and coworkers accordingly.
• Performs visual inspection of aluminum cans and packaging quality.
• Monitors schedules, equipment, or processes, and reports problems to Supervisor.
• Follows all SOP’s (standard operating procedures) and communicates with proper personnel as concerns or issues arise.
• Assist Quality Assurance in locating pallets for sampling.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum 18 years old
• High School diploma or G.E.D preferred
• Equivalent with 3+ years working on a sit-down forklift experience required.
• Working in a manufacturing setting (high-speed manufacturing is preferred).
• Must be able to withstand extreme climate changes especially during summer and winter months.
• Effective and proven communication skills (both written and verbal) working in a team environment.
• Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
• Effective record keeping skills and the ability to focus on details.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods as well as work on elevated stationary platforms and withstand extreme climate changes especially during summer months.
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail, good record keeping, and precision abilities is highly desirable.
• Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, either nights from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., or days from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekends and overtime as business needs dictate.
• This position requires union membership after 30 days of hire.
• Preferred Requirements OSHA/Forklift Trainer Certified Beverage Packaging industry experience Knowledge of AS400
