Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. is seeking a dedicated forklift operator to support packaging, handling, and shipment of quality products. You will work closely with the Plant Shipping Supervisor to ensure timely, accurate loading and movement of inventory.

The role requires hands-on forklift operation, adherence to safety procedures, and ability to work 12-hour day or evening shifts. Prior experience in a manufacturing setting and reliable teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent with 3+ years forklift experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform varied physical tasks.
  • Capable of working twelve hour day/night shifts.
  • Effective written and verbal communication in a team setting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong record-keeping and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Operates powered industrial trucks to transport inventory and load trailers.
  • Transports inventory to correct locations and stages orders for shipment.
  • Ensures equipment, guards, and safety devices are in place and safe.
  • Monitors production schedules and coordinates with supervision and team.
  • Performs visual inspection of cans and packaging quality.
  • Follows SOPs and communicates issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with QA in locating pallets for sampling.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and organized work areas.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Job Description

The forklift operator works closely with the Plant Shipping Supervisor to ensure the packaging, handling, and shipment of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Job Accountabilities
  • Ensures all equipment, guards, and safety devices are in place at all times, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules
  • Operates powered industrial trucks to transport inventory and load tractor trailers for shipment.
  • Transports inventory in warehouse to correct locations and stages orders for shipment.
  • Understands daily production schedule and corresponds with mgmt. leads, and coworkers accordingly
  • Performs visual inspection of aluminum cans and packaging quality
  • Monitors schedules, equipment, or processes, and reports problems to Supervisor
  • Assists with Material Movers (Line drivers) or other forklift operations when necessary
  • Follows all SOP’s (standard operating procedures) and communicates with proper personnel as concerns or issues arise
  • Assist Quality Assurance in locating pallets for sampling
  • Keeps equipment and all areas safe, clean, and organized through proper housekeeping
  • Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • A high school diploma preferred or equivalent with 3+ years working forklift experience in a manufacturing setting (high-speed manufacturing is preferred).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds on occasion and regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. This position may also require climbing or balancing.
  • Must be able to work twelve (12) hour shifts, both day and evening.
  • Effective and proven communication skills (both written and verbal) working in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks at the same time.
  • Effective record keeping skills and the ability to focus on details.
Preferred Requirements
  • OSHA/Forklift Trainer Certified
  • Beverage Packaging industry experience
  • Knowledge of AS400

Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
  • The noise level is frequently loud
