Job description

Forklift Mechanic specializing in industrial maintenance, responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing lift trucks, pallet jacks and material handling equipment.

The daily work ensures that the warehouse keeps their fleets running safely to avoid costly downtime.

Core Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance: Conducts scheduled routine checks, changes fluids, lubricates moving parts, and tests systems to catch issues before a breakdown occurs.


• System Diagnostics: Uses specialized tools and technical manuals to find electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic failures in propane, gas, diesel, and electric models.


• Parts Replacement: Removes worn or broken components like brakes, tires, lift chains, and hoses, then replaces them with new parts from stock or orders new ones.


• Safety Compliance: Tests repaired equipment to verify it meets strict manufacturer specifications and OSHA workplace safety rules.


• Record Keeping: Logs all completed service work, hours, parts used, and machine serial numbers into computer systems or work tablets.

Technical Tasks and systems

• Hydraulic Systems: Repairs and tests high pressure pumps, control valves, lift cylinders, and leaky fluid hoses.


• Electrical Systems: Troubleshoots AC/DC circuits, wiring harnesses, starter motors, sensors, and electronic controllers.


• Power Units: Services internal combustion engines (gas, LPG, diesel) and maintain industrial battery charging setups for electrical units


• Mast and Chassis: Aligns fork assemblies, repairs carriage channels, and changes solid or pneumatic wheels.

Job requirements and Qualifications

• Education:High school diploma or GED, technical certification in diesel or automotive repair is preferred


• Experience:1-3 years of hands-on mechanical repair work on industrial or heavy equipment


• Physical Demands: Ability to stand, bend, crawl under heavy frames, and lift up to 50-75lbs occasionally.
