Responsibilities:

Our Material Handling Group is seeking a full-time Forklift Field Service Technician at our Saginaw, MI branch. This is a first shift, M-F, hourly position (no flat rate!). Technicians are provided a company service van, which they can drive home, along with a fuel card. Key responsibilities include:

• Performing preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and material handling equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing all forms of customer equipment
• Completing repairs efficiently and professionally
• Providing excellent customer service
• Managing workloads independently
• Completing and submitting all required paperwork
• Managing company vehicle and on-board parts inventory
• Incorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Performing other duties as assigned
• Maintaining regular, reliable attendance and being ready at the designated start time

Qualifications:

• Two years of forklift repair experience preferred, including military, guard, or reserve service with MOS or NEC codes such as 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M, or CM
• Previous field experience highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
• Excellent mechanical skills
• Own tools required
• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
• Familiarity with HYPASS, Hyster TKC, and Yale/Hyster contact management systems
• Language skills: Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and communicate effectively
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
• Intermediate reasoning skills to solve problems and follow instructions

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands; frequently talk/hear; occasionally sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
• No special vision requirements
• Lift up to 10 lbs regularly; 11-25 lbs frequently; over 26 lbs occasionally
• Work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes, outdoor weather, and other environmental conditions
