Job summary

VIP Staffing in San Antonio, TX is immediately hiring an Equipment Technician to repair, rebuild and service heavy construction and lift truck equipment. Pay is up to $35/hr based on experience. Schedule is Mon-Fri 8am-5pm with some on-call rotation.

Primary duties include inspecting fleets, identifying repairs, removing/installing major components, diagnosing malfunctions and documenting service work. Strong reading/writing, math and mechanical skills required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of technician/mechanic experience on equipment and forklifts.
• Must read, write and have basic math and mechanical skills.
• Two-year vocational education certificate preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forklift fleet to ensure trucks are working properly and safely.
• Identify forklifts that need repairs.
• Remove and install hoods, guards, counterweights, sheet metal, tracks, forks, masts and other external parts as directed.
• Assist in removal and installation of hydraulic valves, engines, transmissions, clutches, drive axles and other major components.
• Clean parts with solvents or bead blasting methods.
• Coordinate with dispatch, service operations, sales and support teams to ensure great customer service.
• Diagnose malfunctions and evaluate worn parts.
• Order new and rebuilt parts from parts books and shop personnel.
• Complete service reports documenting parts and labor.
• Assemble new machines and attachments.
• Operate and test equipment after repair and perform limited adjustments.

Job description

Immediately hiring a n Equipment Technician for a large company on the northeast side of San Antonio. Pay is up to $35/hr. based on experience. This position's main responsibility is repairing, rebuilding and servicing heavy construction and lift truck equipment in-accordance with recommendations and specifications published by equipment manufacturers.

Schedule is Mon-Fri 8am-5pm with some on-call rotation.

Duties:

• Inspects forklift truck fleet to ensure trucks are working properly and safely.
• Identify any forklift trucks that need repairs.
• Removes and installs hoods, guards, counterweights, sheet metal, tracks, forks, masts and other external parts as directed
• Assists in the removal and installation of hydraulic valves, engines, transmissions, clutches, drive axles and other major components
• Cleans parts with petroleum-based solvents, parts bead blasting machines or similar cleaning methods
• Work with dispatch, service operations, sales and the technical support team to make sure great customer service is provided to both our internal and our external customers
• Diagnosing malfunctions, failures and other problems, and in evaluating worn and used parts.
• Orders new and rebuilt parts from parts books and shop parts personnel
• Completes assigned service reports needed to document parts and labor expenses and repair methodology.
• Assembles new machines and attachments.
• Operates and tests equipment after repair and makes limited machine adjustments.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Seeking at least 3 years of technician/mechanic experience on equipment and forklifts.
• Must be able to read and write, and have basic math and mechanical skills.
• A two-year vocational education certificate or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
• Proven ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
