Job summary

Lonestar Forklift in San Antonio, Texas, is seeking a Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive Mechanic) to join our Service team. You will diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on material handling equipment and machinery, while maintaining clear communication with customers and the Service Dispatcher.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of repair experience, a valid driver’s license, and a high school diploma; trade certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry.
• Trade certification is a plus.
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing electric engines is an asset.
• Aerial platform and lift truck experience is an asset.
• Strong communication with customers and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and learning aptitude.
• High school diploma required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance and safety inspections on material handling equipment and machinery.
• Maintain communication with the Service Dispatcher about ongoing jobs and complete tasks timely.
• Discuss service details with customers and confirm repair requirements.
• Coordinate with Parts department to order and stage required parts before site visits.
• Maintain proper documentation such as work orders and warranty paperwork.
• Report safety incidents promptly and follow safety policies.

The Opportunity

Lonestar Forklift is looking for a mechanically skilled Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive Mechanic) to join our Service team in San Antonio Texas. Reporting to the Service Manager, the Field Technician will be assigned to a variety of machinery repair tasks required by our loyal customers.

As a Field Technician your key responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
• Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
• Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
• Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
• Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
• Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

• At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry
• Relevant Trade Certification an asset
• Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset
• Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience an asset
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
• Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
• High school diploma
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required
