Job summary

Altec Industries, Inc. is seeking a forklift operator to move materials around the plant and adjacent areas, operating industrial trucks and equipment safely.

You will follow all safety regulations, perform routine vehicle maintenance, and load/unload pallets, ensuring materials are secured for transport.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: Prefer past experience operating forklifts or heavy machinery.
• Tools: Band cutters, box cutters.
• Equipment/Machines: Operation of various forklifts and occasional work on other machinery.
• Knowledge/Skills: Basic computer knowledge and plant familiarity to deliver parts.
• Certifications/Licenses: Altec forklift license and HAZWOP certified.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial trucks or tractors to move materials around the plant and outside.
• Follow safety regulations and keep work area clean; wear required safety attire.
• Move materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
• Use lifting devices to load, unload, and stack materials.
• Position pallets and secure materials for transport.
• Manually load or unload materials onto pallets or lifting devices.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance like cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling.
• Turn valves and operate chutes to dump or release materials into hoppers.

Responsibilities

• POSITION SUMMARY: Operate industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move materials around the plant as well as outside the plant.
• Follow all safety regulations for the individual as well as other employees, including keeping the work area clean and in orderly condition as well as wearing all appropriate safety attire for the job that is being performed.
• Move controls to drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks or tractors and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
• Move levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
• Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
• Manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.
• Turn valves and open chutes to dump, spray, or release materials from dump cars or storage bins into hoppers.

Basic Qualifications

• EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• EXPERIENCE: P referred past experience with the operation of fork trucks or other heavy machinery.
• TOOLS: Band cutters, box cutters.
• EQUIPMENT/MACHINES: Operation of various forklifts, occasional work on other machinery.
• KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Basic computer knowledge, familiarity with the plant, inside and outside, to deliver parts to designated areas.
• CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Altec forklift license, HAZWOP certified.
