Title:

Fork Lift Operator

Location:

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Responsibilities:

• Operate the forklift safely, always watching for pedestrians.
• Load and unload goods from vehicles such as trucks.
• Move materials packed on pallets or in crates around the facility.
• Stack goods in designated storage locations, following inventory control instructions.
• Ensure loads are secure.
• Stack empty pallets.
• Perform daily equipment checks, including oil levels, propane tanks, battery, and lubrication.
• Empty trash hopper into outside waste receptacles.
• Dump materials into machine hoppers.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of proven experience as a forklift operator.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Good eye-hand-foot coordination.
• Strong math, language, and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required.
• High attention to safety to prevent injuries and promote a safe work environment.
• Ability to follow instructions for operating equipment and record-keeping.
• Perform tasks accurately, timely, and safely.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Forklift certification compliant with OSHA standards.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly sit on a powered industrial truck.
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods.
• Good sense of balance.
• Good eye-hand-foot coordination.
• Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures depending on the season.
