Job summary

Dauch Corporation is seeking a Forge Tooling Engineer to lead tooling optimization, cost reduction, and technology evaluation across multiple plants. The role requires collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and General Stores to ensure tooling standards and best practices are followed.

You will mentor engineers, manage tooling inventories, and drive continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years forge tool room experience or tool manufacturing experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent major preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of Forge Tools and manufacturing processes.
• Proven track record to manage and complete large projects.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate comprehensive management of site tooling per Dauch Tooling System standards and drive continuous improvement with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and General Stores.
• Identify and support Continuous Improvement activities for Quality (Scrap reduction) and Cost (CPU).
• Maintain Technical Tooling documentation, Tooling Drawings, and Tool Layouts (AutoCAD or similar).
• Support plant tool manufacturing operations to ensure accuracy, organization, and best practices.
• Coordinate with Tool Steel Suppliers to identify best practices, continuous improvement, and new technologies.
• Support the management of tooling inventory, tool reconditioning, and scrap tooling processes.
• Utilize problem solving and troubleshooting techniques to resolve machining issues.
• Quote cost per unit of new jobs based on tooling selection and expected tool life.
• Teach and mentor tooling and manufacturing engineers at the plant level.
• Interact with plant tool rooms to support forge tool manufacturing processes.
