Job summary

Runavir is seeking a FORGE Course Instructor in Hanover, MD, on-site, to lead expert instruction in cyber, security, and intel domains. You will coach students toward certification, manage hands-on labs, and ensure real-world preparedness through simulated environments.

The role requires a strong background in virtualization, course design, and security concepts, with a focus on up-to-date materials and performance feedback across a collaborative team. A 40-hour week is typical.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Integrated Systems & Design, Education, Information Systems, Cyber Engineering, or related field is desired but not required.
• Experience in developing, testing, deployment, operations, training, or maintenance of electrical/electronic/software systems is preferred.
• Ability to perform trend analysis of student performance and update course materials accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Act as subject matter expert and coach through lecture and lab work to prepare students for certification and mission-critical needs.
• Monitor student performance on practical exercises and provide feedback.
• Employ virtualization technology to simulate real-world scenarios and create immersive cyber environments.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to update course content, training materials, and documentation.
• Research, document, and test security solutions for emerging technologies and CNE concepts.
• Design and implement training exercises and scenarios to support operational training.
• Maintain knowledge of supported course maps and update them as courses evolve.
• Create and update detailed schedules for supported courses.

FORGE Course Instructor

Location: Hanover, MD (On-Site) | Status: Open

We are currently seeking a FORGE Course Instructor in Hanover, MD, to join a dynamic instructor team delivering engaging, cutting-edge training solutions in the Cyber, Security, and Intel space. Instructors are part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering sophisticated, hands-on training solutions to meet the mission and time-critical needs of our customers.

Work Schedule

Attendance is critical at all times. A standard 40-hour workweek is expected, normally Monday through Friday, though times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Availability for overtime during critical peaks and last-minute requests is expected.

Essential Responsibilities (describe the day-to-day)

• Act as subject matter expert and coach, through lecture and lab work, preparing students to meet certification standards and mission-critical needs.
• Monitor student performance on practical exercises and provide feedback.
• Employ virtualization technology to simulate real-world scenarios and create immersive cyber-environments for students.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to recommend updates to course content, training materials, and documentation.
• Research, document, and test security solutions for emerging technologies, security methodologies, and CNE concepts.
• Support development and instruction of tactically relevant operational training, including designing and implementing training exercises and scenarios.
• Maintain knowledge of supported course maps and update them as courses evolve.
• Create and update detailed schedules for supported courses.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

General office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Knowledge of creating and configuring virtual hosts and networks using VMware to support real-world scenario development.
• Knowledge of scenario development and interactive virtual learning module creation using tools such as VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, Moodle, Captivate, Camtasia, and Articulate.
• Knowledge of commonly used programming languages, preferably Python, Ruby, and shell scripting.
• Administration knowledge of setting up and maintaining common Unix, Unix variant, and Windows servers.
• Ability to perform trend analysis of student performance and identify course material needing improvement.
• Ability to recommend and implement updated course materials to keep courses current and improve the student learning experience through new exercises, demonstrations, and visual aids.

Security Clearance Required

TS/SCI with Polygraph

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Integrated Systems & Design, Education, Information Systems, Cyber Engineering, or a related field is desired but not required. Additional years of experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Minimum Years of Experience

Five (5) years of experience in the development, testing, deployment, operations, training, or maintenance of electrical/electronic/software systems. An additional three (3) years of experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree, for a total of eight (8) years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in system design, including general networking systems.
• Effective communication, writing, documentation, and requirements-gathering skills for working with the team and the customer.
• Experience as a trainer or course developer for cyber courses.
• Ability to provide recommendations for technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
• Experience mentoring junior team members.
