Job summary

The Forestry Technician 4 (FT4) position is a full-time role with the Northern Sonoma County Fire Fuels Crew. Duties include supervising crew members in the field, serving as project manager, coordinating vegetation management projects, and delivering training as needed.

The role emphasizes safe work practices, daily task assignment, equipment maintenance, and acting as the liaison between crew members and higher-level technicians.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience as fuels crew member or similar role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide field supervision to crew members.
• Serve as project manager for vegetation projects.
• Coordinate and implement vegetation management tasks.
• Deliver training as needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment for the crew.
• Assign daily duties and monitor progress.
• Maintain inventory and perform equipment maintenance.
• Act as liaison between crew and Forestry Technician 5.
