Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District seeks a Forestry Technician 4 to lead the Fire Fuels Crew in California. This full-time role supervises field crews, manages vegetation projects, and delivers training while coordinating safety and daily tasks in a wildland setting.
The position requires coordinating with Forestry Technician 5 and maintaining equipment, with emphasis on field supervision and project execution in diverse terrain.
The Forestry Technician 4 (FT4) position is a full-time position with the Northern Sonoma County Fire Fuels Crew. Duties include:
Highly Desirable Qualifications: Forestry or natural resources education and/or related experience. Experience acting in a supervisory role. Wildland fire ecology, use, and management experience and education, including understanding wildland fuel loading, wildland fire effects, and wildland fire monitoring. Other desirable qualifications include wildland firefighting experience, EMT, S-130, S-131, S-190, L-180, S-211, S-212, S-215, S-230, S-219, and S-290.
This position requires frequent lifting and/or moving of heavy objects. Strength, stamina, and agility are necessary to hike steep, uneven terrain while carrying equipment. Work is performed primarily in wildland settings in all weather conditions.
The selection process will include one or more of the following components: application review, oral interview, background investigation and physical exam.
