Job summary

ForestryWorks in Effie, MN is seeking an Intermediate Natural Resources Forestry Specialist to manage forest resource programs and perform field assignments across division areas. You will work under limited supervision and may lead other staff, interns, and volunteers.

The role covers tasks from wildfire prevention to silviculture, timber sales, data analysis with GIS/4Trees, and collaboration with multiple program areas to protect and utilize state forest resources in accordance with policy.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, assign, and analyze Forestry Sub-program tasks within the Area.
• Complete annual sub-program accomplishment reporting.
• Interact with sub-program and program staff at Area, Region, and Statewide levels.
• Visit forest stands, collect data, and develop silviculture prescriptions meeting plans and policy.
• Administer active timber sales, direct loggers, and scale forest products.
• Develop silviculture case studies to monitor long-term impacts on state lands.
• Use GIS and 4Trees to input data, run analyses, manage databases, and map.
• Engage in wildfire prevention and suppression activities to protect life and resources.
• Meet with landowners to share management recommendations and approve cost-share requests.
• Participate in outreach events to promote sustainable forestry and wildfire prevention.
