Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry is seeking a Forestry Crew Specialist to perform fire prevention and suppression duties in the forests of Louisiana, under supervision of the Forestry Parish Supervisor.

The role requires a high school diploma and a current Louisiana driver's license, with duties spanning reports, field management support, and equipment maintenance in Vernon Parish. Appointment is full-time with probationary status.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Make reports of forest fires, including location and acres involved.
• Assist Forestry Crew Specialist Leader in forest management activities (cruising, detecting pests/diseases).
• Participate in Information & Education programs related to forestry fields.
• Monitor and perform repair/maintenance of transport trucks, dozer tractors, fire suppression equipment, tools.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
