Job summary

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking a dedicated Forest Ranger (Wildland Firefighter) to assist in forest fire prevention and suppression across the state.

This role involves technical forestry services, providing educational programs, and operating fire suppression equipment. Candidates must be high school graduates, physically fit, and capable of passing drug and background checks. A Class B CDL is required within three months of hiring.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.
• Must have good moral character as determined by investigation.
• Must be in good physical condition and non-user of tobacco products for at least one year.

Responsibilities

• Prevent, detect, and suppress forest fires.
• Provide technical forestry services and information to landowners.
• Operate and maintain various types of fire suppression equipment.
