Job summary

Larimer County is seeking a Sawyer Crew Lead to supervise a small team performing wildfire mitigation, restoration, and landscape tasks. The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and representing the program in public outreach and education initiatives.

The position runs 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, Monday through Friday as a temporary assignment with an anticipated end date in early May 2027. Required certifications include S212 Level A and First Aid; driver license is also required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire.
• First Aid certification by date of hire; Wilderness First Aid preferred.
• S212 Wildland Chainsaw Certification Level A by date of hire; Level B preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of temporary staff during daily work.
• Perform wildfire mitigation and environmental restoration tasks.
• Operate light equipment including chainsaws, wood chippers, and splitters.
• Engage in community events and programs to build relationships with residents and agencies.
• Complete logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Monitor crew safety and provide lead accountability and support.
