Job summary

Larimer County is seeking a crew lead to supervise a small team of experienced sawyers on wildfire mitigation, restoration, and landscape maintenance projects. The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and public outreach to build community relationships.

The position runs 8:00 am–4:30 pm, Monday–Friday, as a temporary assignment with an anticipated end date in early May 2027. Duties include logging, incident reporting, and ensuring crew accountability.

Qualifications

  • Certification and ability to supervise temporary staff.
  • First Aid certification required by date of hire.
  • S212 Wildland Chainsaw certification (Feller A by date of hire; Feller B preferred).
  • Valid Driver's License by date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a small team of sawyers during wildfire mitigation and restoration projects.
  • Oversee safety, compliance, and lead accountability for the crew.
  • Operate light equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and wood splitters.
  • Represent the program at community events and partner with residents and agencies.
  • Complete logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Maintain positive relations with county employees and external partners.
