Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Forester in the Susquehannock Forest District within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to guide timber management, fire prevention, and regeneration work across state forest lands. Qualifications

• Two years of technical forestry experience, and an associate’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree; or
• A bachelor’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree; or
• A master’s degree in forest technology, forestry, forest management, forest ecosystem management, urban forestry, forest science, agroforestry, or a related forestry degree.

Responsibilities

• Forest Planning: Complete field and office tasks to support development and updates of forest resource plans
• Timber Management: Apply silvicultural guidance, prepare timber sales, and oversee harvesting activities
• Resource Protection: Participate in fire prevention, suppression efforts, and insect or disease response activities
• Regeneration Work: Carry out treatments and fencing projects to support young forest growth
• Invasive Control: Coordinate efforts to manage invasive plants and utility right of way areas
• Team Support: Assist technicians and interns on timber and regeneration activities
