Job summary

The State of North Carolina - Agriculture & Consumer Services, through the North Carolina Forest Service, seeks a Forester I to provide professional oversight in forest management across multiple counties. The role emphasizes data collection, plan writing, and regulatory compliance.

You will collect and analyze forest data, write management plans for private lands, and assist with environmental inspections while supporting emergency response during fires and disasters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry from SAF-accredited program or NC Foresters board-licensed or equivalent.
• Experience in forest data collection and analysis.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze forest data to provide technical advice to landowners.
• Write management plans for non-industrial private forest landowners.
• Conduct environmental compliance inspections for forestry regulations.
• Assist in emergency response during wildland fires and disasters.
