Job summary

The North Carolina Forest Service seeks a Forestry Supervisor I (NS) to lead district programs in forest management, water quality, GIS, and budget administration. You will coordinate weather stations, fire danger ratings, and fuel mitigation while guiding staff across multiple programs.

The role involves fieldwork, prescribed burns, and incident response within the ICS framework. Requires forestry degree and four years’ related experience, or eligible forester registration in NC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry from SAF-accredited program and four years of related forestry experience.
• Or NC Forester registration plus four years of related forestry experience.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee District programs: Forest Management, Water Quality, Ranger Training, GIS, and cost-share.
• Coordinate work on Remote Access Weather Stations and fire rating programs.
• Lead prescribed burns and response activities within Incident Command System.
• Manage District personnel, hiring, performance, and budget for Forestation program.
