Job summary

American Forest Management (AFM) seeks a Forester to join the Columbia Gorge District, supporting forest management across Washington and Oregon. The role involves silviculture, reforestation, vegetation management, timber harvest planning, and client coordination.

Position level (Forester I–III) will reflect education and experience. AFM offers mentorship, a strong benefits package, and opportunities to advance within a national forestry firm with a local team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field.
• Experience from entry-level forestry work to advanced professional practice.
• Knowledge of GIS, forest health, vegetation management, and timber harvest operations.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement forest management activities including silviculture and reforestation.
• Permit and administer timber harvest operations and coordinate contractors.
• Oversee field operations for quality, safety, and efficiency; assist with road construction planning.
• Use GIS, mapping tools and management software to support planning and decision-making.
• Prepare management plans, budgets, harvest schedules, and client recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal forestry regulations and support business development.
