Washington Department of Natural Resources in Deer Park, WA seeks a Service Forester (NRS2) to deliver forest health and management services for landowners, with duties spanning technical guidance, program facilitation, and collaboration with partners.

The role requires forestry education and field experience, GIS proficiency, and strong communication. This is a full-time, non-permanent position in the Northeast Region with on-site fieldwork and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in forestry, natural resources, or closely related field from an accredited program.
• One year of field experience in forest management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with forestry tools such as measuring and hand tools.
• Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office, and SharePoint.
• Experience with GIS and mapping tools to document work and communicate to non-technical audiences.

Responsabilités

• Provide on-site or remote professional guidance and technical expertise to forest landowners regarding forest management and structure risk reduction.
• Facilitate landowner participation in financial assistance programs and forest health or fuel reduction contracts.
• Collaborate with agency partners to tailor action plans for landowners.
• Serve as a technical resource for educational programs.
• Design work units on the ground to utilize funds within cost-share programs.
• Complete home risk assessments.
• Document inquiries and services in the One Stop Shop Online Tracking Tool.
