Job summary

Florida Forest Service, part of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, is seeking an OPS Heavy Equipment Operator to support statewide road construction and maintenance on forest lands. Incumbents must obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within six months, and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with tanker endorsement within six months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment for statewide road construction, maintenance, and improvements on state forests and other lands.
• Coordinate and operate road tractors to transport heavy equipment, vehicles, and construction materials.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on fleet equipment.
• Assist in maintenance of state forest recreation areas and respond to forest visitor inquiries.
