Job summary

Florida Forest Service seeks candidates for a fire prevention and suppression role, providing technical forestry services, inspecting landowners, and delivering forestry education programs. Travel occasionally and be ready for on-call duties.

Requires CDL within six months, living within 30 miles of Glen Saint Mary HQ, and passing drug and background screenings. Occasional emergencies and on-call duties apply. State benefits included.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent and at least 18 years old.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of appointment and be willing to travel as required.
• Live within thirty (30) miles of the assigned headquarters in Glen Saint Mary, FL.
• Pass pre-employment drug test and a background/fingerprint screening as required.

Responsibilities

• Engage in forest fire prevention, detection, suppression and presuppression activities.
• Provide technical forestry services to landowners and industry representatives; assist in state lands management.
• Deliver forestry education programs and public outreach.
• Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and participate in incident response under the Incident Command System.
• Perform maintenance, construction, and procurement tasks for state lands facilities and equipment.
