Position Summary (Basic Job Function):

1. This is a temporary position.
2. Perform and assist in forestry labor.

Unit Position Summary:

1. Identify and mark property boundaries.
2. Cruise timber in designated stand and compile data for future timber sales.
3. Clear trails of downfalls using various implements (tractors/brushogs, gators, chainsaws, skidloaders).
4. Maintain Dunbar and Escanaba infrastructure.
5. Care for newly planted chestnut orchard and Christmas tree plantation.
6. Establish maple syrup demonstration sugarbush infrastructure, including installation of lines, sap tanks, and lateral lines.
7. Assist in constructing the post beam structure to cover the portable sawmill and pellet mill.
8. Assist in fencing 110 acres to exclude deer.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Desired Qualifications:

• Student enrolled in Forestry major or closely related curriculum.
• Self-motivated.
• Willing to work outside in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Heavy equipment operation experience is a plus but not required.
