Job summary

Steigerwaldt Land Services, Inc. is seeking an Inventory Forester to join our Inventory and Geospatial Solutions team in Hayward, WI. This full-time, hourly, non-exempt role focuses on field data collection for forest inventories, using tablets and GIS software to record tree metrics and plot locations.

The candidate should be comfortable with significant travel, weekend work, and overtime, with a strong emphasis on safety and collaboration within a skilled team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Forestry or related field.
• Travel up to 50% or more.
• Experience with GPS data collection and ESRI GIS.
• Ability to work independently in field settings.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Inventory data collection with required speed and precision.
• Record detailed tree data observations using tablet and internal software.
• Determine diameters, heights, and species for plots.
• Use sub-meter GPS for plot location, monumentation, and boundaries.
• Coordinate with property managers regarding access and hazards.
• Collaborate with other inventory foresters to maximize efficiency and safety.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.
