Job summary

trimgroup is seeking a Supervisor for our electrical installation projects in Kennett Square, Chester County. In this pivotal role, you will oversee field activities and ensure safety compliance, manage teams, and handle project administrative tasks effectively.

Job description

Under the field supervision of a Superintendent, Operations or Project Manager, the supervisor plans, directs, and supervises field installation activities of commercial and industrial electrical and electronic systems activities and operations of assigned projects in a safe and productive manner. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri‑M safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with all Tri‑M employment policies and procedures including standards of conduct and appearance to reflect positively on the Company.
  • Effectively manages the requisition, storage, and safeguarding of all equipment, tools, and vehicles.
  • Effectively manages requisition, storage, and safeguarding of materials.
  • Effectively manages jobsite labor.
  • Effectively manages project administrative tasks.
  • Supervises assigned personnel to maximize career development for employees, including giving feedback for performance evaluations.
  • Effectively manages subcontractors and outside services.
  • Effectively manages project close‑out process.
  • Oversees installation of special electrical systems (e.g., nurse call, CCTV, security).
  • Administers all projects, as assigned.
Skill/Education
  • High school education or equivalency; post‑high school education desirable but not required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical construction or building automation systems at Journeyperson level.
  • Completion of a state‑approved apprenticeship program and the ability to obtain Maryland and Delaware Electrical Journeyperson Licenses.
  • Ability to read, understand, and effectively apply all construction drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Maintains consistent Journeyperson job description requirements.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people in a professional, constructive manner.
  • Ability to organize and administer multiple job functions with good attention to detail and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Basic level computer literacy including word processing, working with spreadsheets, processing emails, and data entry.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical and building automation trades and applicable building and electrical codes.
  • Knowledge of and ability to deal with other construction trades.
  • Must be confident, decisive, and self‑motivated.
Physical Requirements
  • Working 40 hours per week, scheduled in 8‑ to 10‑hour shifts.
  • Standing and climbing for 4 to 6 hours per day.
  • Kneeling, lifting, reaching above shoulders, and bending for 4 to 5 hours per day.
  • Twisting (180°) and walking for 2 to 3 hours per day.
  • Squatting and sitting for 1 to 2 hours per day.
  • Lifting weights from 0 to 75 lbs. at the following frequencies: continuous lifting of 10 to 35 lbs.; frequent lifting of 35 to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting of 50 to 75 lbs.; sizes and shapes of objects vary from concrete blocks to cylinders to 10‑foot lengths of metallic conduit and 20‑foot lengths of PVC conduit; average carry requirements, 60 lbs. for 40’.
  • Ability to lift from floor to above shoulder.
  • Repetitive use of hands includes continuous grasping up to 50 lbs.; frequent pushing and pulling of 50 to 75 lbs.; and fine motor coordination for receptacle installation and wire terminations.
  • Repetitive use of feet is required for operating heavy equipment, conduit benders, and vertical climbing.
  • Vision adequate for blueprint reading and color coding for wire identification.
  • Balance adequate for continuous climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts and for working from heights.
  • Environmental factors may include working in temperature extremes of 0° F to 100° F up to 8 hours inside or outside and atmospheric exposure to dust, gases, fumes, and odors within the Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL).
  • Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and potentially explosive hazards.
  • Personal protective equipment includes use of hard hat, safety glasses, protected‑to‑toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task. Equipment on an as‑needed basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, arc flash protective gear, and dielectrically insulated gloves and/or sleeves.
